Notions of liquidity and fluidity in Carriker’s art and illustration work have been shaped by the notion that “everything in the universe is perpetually inhaling and exhaling small particles: all sensations are caused by these emanations through the whole skin surface of living beings (…) the spaces between things are ignored and the interactions constant. Breath is everywhere. There are no edges” (Carson, Anne. Eros the Bittersweet).
